In 2012, a $3.6 million City of Phoenix bond and a $5 million dollar gift from The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation launched a campaign to provide a new home for the clients of Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS and other community partners serving people living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS. Realizing that dream since opening its doors in 2013, The Parsons Center for Health and Wellness is now the home of Southwest Center, as well as the McDowell Healthcare Center, Avella Pharmacy, Aunt Ritas Foundation, GLSEN, and one•n•ten – providing an incredible, single-location resource for the Phoenix community. We’re proud to open the doors at The Parsons Center for Health and Wellness for this year’s Night For Life Event to showcase the work being done for Valley residents touched by HIV and to ask for continued community support for the free and low-cost programs Southwest Center provides for our community.

Speak Up.

Lack of awareness, knowledge and the willingness to speak up about HIV can breed stigma and discrimination – creating major obstacles to effective responses to the HIV epidemic. With successful programs like HIV 101: Pizza and the Basics, Positive Action, Positive Connections and our IGNITE Community Outreach Project, Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS gives a commanding voice in the Phoenix Community to teach and empower both positive and negative individuals to dispel myths and crush stigma.

You’ll be able to sample specially-crafted hors d’oeuvres from FEZ and Bliss/ReBar to make you fall in love with these local favorites in a new way, and the staff from The Rock will be serving classic cocktails using Tito’s Handmade Vodka along with a special collection of scotch and bourbons.

It takes a village to make great things happen – and we’re so appreciative to our outstanding sponsors for setting up Night For Life for success!

Speak Out.

For many people, making contact with an organization like Southwest Center is one of the few, if only, places where a person can safely discuss experiences, feelings or risks associated with HIV/AIDS. Whether a person is utilizing Behavioral Health, Nutrition, Case Management, Naturopathic Wellness, Primary Care or free HIV & STI Testing Services, Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS’ staff and volunteers have been providing support and giving a voice to the affected Phoenix HIV community for over 27 years.

Night For Life is designed to support the programs and services of Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS, a local Phoenix nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS. You can help us make a difference with as little as $20.

Speak Easy.

A person who discloses their HIV status can be the single most powerful ally we have to fight stigma. However, one way that people living with HIV often avoid experiences of stigma is by not telling others they are living with HIV. These same feelings can also prevent a person at-risk for HIV from getting tested, using condoms consistently or utilizing PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis). But we know that a strong network of support can help a person living with HIV to stay engaged in medical care or encourage a person at-risk for HIV to successfully engage in HIV prevention methods. Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS provides a space for members of our community to speak easy about HIV to have the tools to live a long, happy and healthy life – regardless of status.
