Free Confidential HIV and STI Testing in Phoenix
Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS offers FREE and confidential HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) testing in English and Spanish at our clinic inside The Parsons Center for Health and Wellness and throughout the community in Phoenix, Arizona.
The HIV Testing Process
You’ll begin the testing process by talking with one of our Testing and Linkage to Care Specialists. Depending on your risks or exposures, you may be offered either a traditional laboratory blood test or a Rapid HIV Test. Results for laboratory blood tests will be available in 3-4 business days, while results from a Rapid HIV Test will be available in 20 minutes.
If your test is negative, the Testing Specialist will offer you free condoms, free lube, referrals for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), referrals for Behavioral Health Programs and/or referrals to Intervention Programs if you need them to help you stay negative. Talk openly with your Testing Specialist about any concerns you may have about risks in your life.
If your test is positive, you won’t be alone. The Testing Specialist will work with you to ensure you’re linked to medical, financial, behavioral and support services to support you while you navigate through the next steps toward medical treatment and viral suppression (becoming “undetectable”).
The STI Testing Process
Southwest Center tests for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Syphilis at no cost in our downtown Phoenix location. A tube of blood is collected to test for Syphilis. However, because Chlamydia and Gonorrhea are site-specific infections, testing will include a urine sample and, if appropriate, a self-administered rectal swab (oral testing isn’t currently available). Results for these tests will be available in 3-4 business days.
If any of tests are positive for STI’s, Southwest Center can coordinate free or low-cost treatment for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Syphilis.
A person with Syphilis is 5 TIMES more likely to contract HIV if exposed to it.
