METHODS is a program of the Statewide HIV Intervention and Prevention/Arizona (HIPAZ). METHODS targets individuals whom had or have high risk behaviors which may place them at risk for HIV infection or reinfection. Examples of these high risk behaviors may include having multiple sexual partners, injection drug use, abusing alcohol and/or other substances. This program works with individuals 18 years and older, any gender or race, regardless of HIV status with a priority of those whom are living with HIV/AIDS. The program is administered on a one to one basis using the principals of Comprehensive Risk Counseling Services to guide the individual through assessment and treatment planning.
This is a confidential program that works with individuals who are actively participating in those high risk behaviors and allows a structured outlet for working on identified areas with the feared consequences as associated with other services. For example, an individual may not talk with a case manager about their current drug use with the fear they may be removed from services like housing.
This program offers the confidentiality and structure to allow individuals to obtain goals and reduce the risk of transmitting HIV. This program is not Ryan White Case Management and is not designed to deal with issues around housing, food boxes, and financial needs.
